Black As Pitch
November 2001
Released: 2001, Scarlet Records
Rating: 5.0/5
Reviewer: Arto Lehtinen

The cult Italian thrashers enjoy the massive cult following in the labyrinths of the underground and above all in the heart of the old school thrash metal maniacs. The band was already formed back in the mid 80s' and disappeared in the late 80's after putting out two nihilistic raw brutal thrash outputs. After getting back together in the late 90's the Italian thrash tornado unleashed one hell of a sadistic raw "Mater Of All Evil" only proving Necrodeath has still a capacity to write and compose real aggressive stuff. Mater Of All Evil is GREAT in every aspect. The follow up Black As Pitch follows the same nihilistic uncompromising approach. The utter thrash inferno is crowned by the majestical great sounds quality and especially vocalist Flegias' voice has got more vicious and more primitive aspects to his delivery sounding much nastier and more aggressive than on the comeback output. Necrodeath have always been associated and compared to the mighty Slayer, but when listening to the "Black As Pitch" album they have the sound of their own of which they can be recognized and identified as well. Black As Pitch should belong to the collection of every die hard old school thrash metal fan!!!
