Midnight Reign
Never Look Back
October 2008
Released: 2008, Hollywood Rx Records
Rating: 3.5/5
Reviewer: Celtic Bob

This CD has all the makings of a great Hard Rock record; heavy drums, pounding bass, crunchy guitar and adequately powerful vocals. Add in a violin and cello and you create a fairly unique listening experience. Before you go WTF?. Take a moment or two of your time and give it a listen. You will be pleasantly surprised as I was.

The first few tracks are what I expected to hear which were heavy rockers in the same vein as Wednesday 13. When track 4 hit and “The Mourning After…” started my jaw dropped. Holy Pie!! A total turnaround from what I had jutst experienced, now an amazing ballad. This has to be one of the best ballads I have heard in a long time. Joseph’s voice is amazing here and he puts so much effort and emotion into it that you cannot help but be blown away. Easily the standout track on the CD. The remainder of the disc is pretty much your standard Hard Rock in that Wednesday 13 style with a couple mellow moments.

Overall it is a decent CD of Hard Rockin’ tunes. The ballad “The Mourning After…” is worth the price of the disc on its own.
