From Beer To Eternity
Released: 2013, AFM Records
Reviewer: Celtic Bob
Uncle Al returns with the follow-up to RELAPSE. This album was written and tracked before the untimely passing of Mike Scaccia last December. Just 3 short days after the tracking of the songs Scaccia suffered a heart attack and died. After returning home from the funeral, Al locked himself in the studio for 3 months and completed FROM BEER TO ETERNITY.
As you’d expect this album is very much along the same lines as RELAPSE both musically and lyrically. Jourgensen is not one to hold back with his views on any issue, especially political. This album is no different in that stance as politically fueled songs fill the album starting with the lead off single; “PermaWar”. Al even takes a jab at Fox TV on “Fairly Unbalanced” for it’s reporting and ‘News’.
Musically the album is everything you’d expect and more. What can you really say about a Ministry album? It is very Industrial, more so than RELAPSE was. It is slightly heavier than RELAPSE as well and may take a couple of spins to grow on you, but once it does you will rank it high. Filled with programming and unusual sounds make for extremely intense listening. Not an album to put on in the background but one to sit, listen and concentrate on.
FROM BEER TO ETERNITY is a thinking person’s record. The lyrics are a huge part of the overall package and meant for you to read, dissect and interpret for yourself. Al just creates the groundwork and you take it from there.
