Messiah`s Kiss
May 2004
Released: 2004, Steamhammer/SPV/Playground Music
Rating: 3.8/5
Reviewer: Anders Sandvall

Messiah`s Kiss are a new member in the metal family from Dinslaken Germany. They have released one prior album prior called “NO PRAYER FOR THE DYING”. Their music is best described as traditional 80’s heavy metal in the same league as Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Accept but with an up-dated sound. By just looking at the title, “METAL”, you get a clear picture of what this band plays. The cover reflects what this band is all about pretty well.

Messiah`s Kiss haven’t used any keyboards or any other unnecessary instruments on the album. They play pure, vital, honest, heavy metal by relying on bass, guitar, drums and vocals. I think is a positive thing. On “METAL” there are 14 tracks including one intro. The producer is Nikolo Kotzev who has done a really great job. There’s nothing to complain about in the sound, it sounds like typical 80’s heavy metal just like it should. The vocalist Mr. Tirelli and the two guitarists (Mr. Kraft and Mr. Hitz) lie at the very top of the mix and have brilliant twin guitar playing. Tirelli isn’t the greatest singer in the world but his voice fits the music. The rest of the guys are very competent musicians.

This may not be something new and fresh music-wise, but for all of you who grew up in the 80’s and started to listen to heavy metal/hard rock at that time, this band sounds really great. It’s straight, honest, classic, 80’s heavy metal that speaks to your heart.
