Mean Streak
Metal Slave
November 2009
Released: 2009, Black Lodge
Rating: 4.0/5
Reviewer: JP

For well over 20 years, True/Power Metal has been the most prolific, productive and consistent genre in metal. The Swedish quartet, Mean Streak carry on that tradition with glorious pride. Freaky, avante-garde metallic sub-genres come and go but this style of straight ahead, traditional Metal will always be the bastion of the entire scene.

Just glancing at the cover art, a hot demon-chick with two battle-axes, plays nicely to the iconic imagery of the genre. Studs and leather abound and inside, what majestic and triumphant music is to be heard. Clear powerful vocals with range and dynamics, epic lyrics depicting tales of defiance and battle, ripping solos, thunderous drums all integrate seamlessly. The compositions are fun, catchy, melodic and bring true metal pride to the forefront.

The liner notes summarize it all perfectly, “All good Heavy Metal played by real people for the right reasons - TO ROCK!”
