And just when you thought the merciless beating had come to its end, Medeia, these 5 disturbed and madly raging Finns had just started their party...
Medeia are not about any love stories nor would they love to have a candlelight dinner with you. The band´s self-titled 5-song EP, which was released earlier this year, spit its rude and raw language so that you don´t wanna play with these meathook experts, in any kind of circumstances. Not in this world though.
These pick axe messiahs´ debut full length album titled CULT, led exclusively by Keijo Niinimaa (Rotten Sound), is an endlessly beating marathon from start to finish, provided with a couple of half-time breaks only in which a listener is able to come back to her/his consciousness for a short moment until the beating starts all over again. Medeia´s ´alternative death metal´ hits hard from every possible direction, and it becomes irresistible eventually the longer it lasts.
There´s a lot of American death metal influences in Medeia´s sound, but still the band has been wise enough for not taking the shortest and simplest road, making some tricky twists and turns here and there, every time when one thinks it starts turning a bit too easy-listening for some of us. Laura´s synth parts are a definite plus in Medeia´s sound for giving them a stamp of originality. On the other hand, one surely cannot resist Keijo´s infamous death growls, knowing what this man is capable of whenever he feels like growling ´a little bit´. Having a killer group of fellow musicians giving some supportive backfire for his wicked death grunts, it becomes evident very soon that we have quite a winning team here to make some death metal fanatics wild for their stuff. 11 songs in 30-minutes-and-something is what you get - and it surely is enough for your immediate needs. I can guarantee you that.
