Marcio Falchet
Marcio Falchet
February 2011
Released: 2001, Indie
Rating: 3.0/5
Reviewer: JP

In an effort to stay contemporary in our CD review section, we at Metal-Rules don’t often go too far back and review back catalogue. I’m making an exception because Marcio Falchet was kind enough to contact me and offer me a copy of his 2001 self-titled album.

It’s a good record. Marcio (at the time of recording) was a young man from Brazil in his 20’s and eager to show the world his skills. He presents a dozen tracks of instrumental metal. The CD itself is standard, a simple package, some photos and credits and so on, not bad for an indie job. The production is decent, clean and clear.

Musically, Marcio is all about the guitar. He can really play. He has a really nice blend of Yngwie J. Malmsteen and Joe Satriani. Much of the disc is up-tempo neo-classical style metal but it’s not all just blazing speed, like Joe Stump for example. The songs are simple and catchy designed to be pleasant but allow Marcio room to demonstrate his talents on the guitar. There is a fair amount of classical, acoustic guitar and washes of keyboards with add dimension to the album. There is one song with vocals which falls more in the Melodic Hard rock category, but it catchy nonetheless, with some ripping soloing, but he doesn’t overplay either.

If you are a fan of international, instrumental Metal albums or a fan of the many great artists on the Shrapnel or Lion Record labels you will want to track this down. It’s odd that he only seems to have done one album in ten years. I’d like to hear what he is up to these days.
