It’s taken Lana Lane two years to follow up her last album. This time she’s backed up by only a trio, and as expected she sticks to symphonic/progressive hard rock.

The music is centered on Lane’s very beautiful voice and lets her stay in focus for most of the 12 tracks. The highlights on the album are “Into the Fire”, “The Frozen Sea” and “Capture the Sun”, all of which are fast songs with a distinct 70’s retro feeling.

I get a more symphonic/progressive rock feeling when I hear the songs “Stepford USA”, “Shine”, “Save the World”, “Angels and Magicians” and “The Sheltering Sorrow”. The songs have many twists and turns - typical for this genre - and above all soars Lane’s voice. The songs have many instrumental parts and Lane switches between singing ordinary vocals and screaming out her lyrics. Yeah, I know that sounds strange, but I don’t really now how else to describe those parts.

If you liked Lane’s earlier albums, I’m sure you’re going to love this one as well. She sticks to the same tried-and-true formula and it works pretty well. It’s a nice album with one of the best female voices around.
