London Calling
You`re So Lucky
June 2004
Released: 2004, Atenzia Records
Rating: 3.8/5
Reviewer: Anders Sandvall

London Calling is a newly signed band from Atenzia records. YOU’RE SO LUCKY is also the band’s debut album for the label. Formed in December 2002, London Calling are from Evansville Indiana. The band was formed by ex-Guardian member Jamie and three members from The Frantics (Jon, Matthew and Derek). The info provided with the CD says that the band has musical similarities to bands like Sugercult and Lit as well as older bands like Cheap Trick. It also describes London Calling’s music as “explosive pop” something I’m very doubtful to. I think that their music is moreso explosive rock’n’roll influenced by lighter hardcore and punk. Somewhere in here you can also find influences of heavy but still melodic hard rock.

Whoever did the production has done a great job. The producer has created a dirty/garage/noisy production that fits the band like a glove. It sounds just like rock’n’roll should. On this album London Calling has delivered 13 tracks and all of them are high class. All off the songs are equally strong and they uplift and put you in good spirits you when you hear them.

This album is impressive, a perfect soundtrack for the summer for all who hang out on the beach to drink beer and check out girls. This album is highly recommended. The band wants you to feel good when you listen to their music and with that they have accomplished that big time. London Calling has some big plans for the future, we’ll see how far they will go.
