Lock-up
Hate Breeds Suffering
March 2002
Released: 2002, Nuclear Blast
Rating: 3.5/5
Reviewer: Arto Lehtinen

When reading articles and interviews of Lock up of course aimed to be one hell of a super group consisting of Napalm Death, Dimmu Borgir and The Crown dudes in the rank at the moment, I can't help wondering why the guys always keep saying that they wanna bring the old memories and so on back of the real cult albums of the 80's ala Seven Churches, Darkness Descends and hundreds of others with Lock Up's albums. Well the debut Lock-Up album at least didn't bring any good old memories of the 80's thrash to my mind instead it reminded me more or less of the intensive and dynamic grind core album with the some Napalm Death/Extreme Noise Terror elements. Well the same thing with the newest and second Lock Up album, in 30 minutes the band smashes and slaughters all in all 16 tracks with the quite intensive grind core attitude. It ain't that far to draw all the possible influences from the scale of Napalm Death / Terrorizer / Extreme Noise Terror, but comparing and claiming that Lock Up brings the memories of the old thrash/death elements up on the new album and the previous one is totally ridiculous. This is a good grind core album, but not any thrash/death metal album.
