Khors
Wisdom of Centuries
October 2012
Released: 2012, Candlelight Records
Rating: 2.5/5
Reviewer: Metal-Rules.com UK Team

This is the fifth album by the Ukranian Black Metallers and interestingly enough the first album that they have recorded in their mother tongue. But it’s black metal and I couldn’t make out what anyone was saying in the first place, so I’m not sure if it makes much difference really.

As with much Eastern European Black Metal, the sound, though distinctly in the traditional vein has a folkish element to it, something that shrouds the music like a cloak, under which you can gather under as tales of old are delivered by a village elder, sometimes they are tales of heroism, at others they are gruesome and gory, yet he tells them all with a wry smile.

There’s nothing remarkable about this album, bands like Negura Bunget or Drudkh are still leading the field, but Khors can find a firm place in the pecking order, even if they’re only a band you check in with once in a blue moon.
