Kiss
Ikons
December 2008
Released: 2008, Mercury Records Rating: 3.5/5 Reviewer: Celtic Bob Another compilation set from the marketing masters. What’s new here you may ask? Nothing really except for the way it is packaged. This time they broke it down into a CD by each member instead of the same old dozen songs stuck on a disc and labelled Greatest Hits, The Best Of, The Very Best Of…..and so on. Of the four discs that make up this set, Ace’s is the most enjoyable to listen to by far. On his disc you are covered right up to the reunion disc PSYCHO CIRCUS with the track “Into The Void”. It also represents his Kiss solo album very well with a few tracks. Paul’s disc is heavy on Kiss songs more so than his solo LP. Peter’s disc is very solo album heavy and the most diverse of the four. Gene’s disc is exactly what you’d expect as it contains most of his popular Kiss songs with a few solo ones added in to keep it consistent with the others. An interesting set but far from essential. For someone just getting into Kiss this is a great starting place as it shows what each member brought to the band. ![]()
