Johnny Bolt
The Revelation
March 2004
Released: 2003, Enlightening Entertainment
Rating: 3.7/5
Reviewer: Celtic Bob

Jesse Bolt hit the music scene back in the mid 70’s opening for the likes of Deep Purple and Sabbath before breaking up in the early 80’s. They got back together again a few years later only to disband for a second time. Once again they decided to reform in 2000 and the outcome is this 2003 release.

THE REVELATION is a blues based traditional hard rock record in the same vein of Deep Purple. This disc got that classic groove going on that just makes you want to crank it at an late night BBQ. The 70’s Arena Rock influences are easy to hear with the overly produced chorus’ and just gives it that extra something that seems to be lacking in allot of today’s music. Songs like the opening “We Will Rock” and “On and On” show that good musicianship is the major factor in putting out a quality release where all songs are equal.

Despite my love of older music I had not heard of this band until this release. It is a shame that there is not allot of support out there for great good time blues based rock.
