IIIrd Sovereign
Destined to Suffer
July 2008
Released: 2007, Demonstealer Records
Rating: 3.0/5
Reviewer: Luxi Lahtinen

From New Delhi, India, raises this death metal beast with 8 horns, known better as III Sovereign. The band has been formed in 2003, and have released one 4-song EP (HORRIFIED VISIONS) in 2006, and one full-length album during the next year, titled DESTINED TO SUFFER.

As some of you may obviously be thinking now, India probably isn´t a country you would normally expect to hear some quality death metal coming from. Gladly, the country has its underground metal scene for some quality metal acts that people should really keep their curious eyes out for; III Sovereign being one of these acts that deserve your attention.

DESTINED TO SUFFER, a 9-track offering from these Indian death metal maniacs, serves Fisher-era-Cannibal Corpse-tinged death metal to the listeners - III Sovereign´s death metal assaults taking its form at both somewhat tricky and technical levels, but also managing to rip your eardrums to pieces with its straightforward, ear-mangling cuts of brutal death metal. The band´s vocalist named Vedant, has this clear tendency to remind of Mr. Fisher (Cannibal Corpse) and Mr. Rotten (Avulsed) more often than just occasionally, so you should know what to expect from him. Also, these fellows´ playing is on an appreciated level regarding how tight and well they can play together. Of course the type of death metal what they do isn´t anything new or ground-breaking on the face of the earth, but I think they still deserve a fair nod of appreciation from death metal fans though. Songs like "Dying Sun", "Gathering of Lies" and let´s say, "Suicidal Corpse", are all cool pieces of well-made and enjoyable death metal, and I´m sure most of you death metal diggers will find this type of stuff appealing for yourselves. I know for sure I did anyway.

Good and honest death metal fun? Yes - from III Sovereign all the way from New Delhi, India. By all means check them out if you get a chance for that.
