Infected Malignity
The Malignity Born From Despair
September 2006
Released: 2006, Unmatched Brutality
Rating: 3.0/5
Reviewer: Asassinkiller

Even though I have been writing for several websites and magazines for the past number of years, this is the first time that I've had to review a band from Japan: Infected Malignity. I don’t know why I've never reviewed one, especially since the country is pretty active metalically speaking, but I guess there is a reason for everything. Now onto the brutal review.

THE MALIGNITY BORN FROM DESPAIR is a CD that can best be described as a mix between the incredible Suffocation and Deeds of Flesh. Unfortunately, Infected Malignity is not as catchy and technical as Suffocation, so that leaves the band a bit limp. Don’t get me wrong; there are tons of good chunks, tempo changes and very brutal riffs to keep you entertained for a while. The problem is that it is simply too generic, and If I want to hear brutal death metal, I will pick the aforementioned bands over Infected Malignity anytime.

The production is very brutal. Extremely clear, but at the same time very muddy and unpolished. I guess you have to hear it to understand what I am trying to say. But in the end it is a production that fits the band perfectly and that won’t disappoint anyone into brutal music.

I can surely see a lot of potential in these Japanese bulldozers, listen to “Anathatized Vision” and discover it for yourself. But right now the band is a bit far away from what they can surely become. I would love to hear the sophomore record from this Japanese slaughterhouse, cause it could surely be an interesting brutal piece of artillery. But still, and after all is said, if you are a fan of brutal death metal and want to get THE MALIGNITY BORN FROM DESPAIR, you should, it is still a good slab of brutality that deserves a place in your collection. Stay Heavy!!!
