Styx Demon The Master of Death
February 2017
Released: 2017, Evil Eye Records
Rating: 4.5/5
Reviewer: UK Team

I don’t know about you, but I am loving the resurgence classic thrash metal. Danish Thrashers, The Impalers are going a tremendous job on this EP of flying the classic Thrash Metal flag. Everything works here from the cover songs included to the awesome Indiana Jones inspired album cover.

Speaking of covers, this EP features covers from The Misfits and Iron Maiden, possibly the most inspirational bands of for the genre. Impalers frontman, Soren Crawack claimed to have a lot of fun jamming and recording the two cover songs included on this EP and it shows. As a huge Misfits fan, I was excited to see “Death comes Ripping” included and The Impalers captured the energy and fury of the original while simultaneously making it their own.

The two new songs included here are differently worth a listen with “Styx Demon” being the stronger of the two. Great classic thrashy into here including some awesome high pitch screaming reminding this reviewer of Slayer’s classic, “Angel of Death.”

With a a run time of just under fifteen minutes, this is well worth your time to give a few spins.
