Hell`s Felons
Guitars and Misdemeanors
November 1999
Released: 1999, Independent
Rating: 2.0/5
Reviewer: Joe

The first thing I thought when I listened to this disc was "Why the hell did these guys send their CD to Metal Rules!!? They're not metal!" Whatever their reasons, it ended up in my hands and I'm obligated to pass on my opinion.

Hell's Felons are a boogie -n- blues based rock act based out of... uhh...It doesn't say here in the credits... But, it does say the disc was recorded in Hanson, MA, USA., so we'll assume the boys are from somewhere in the New England area. Anyway, the music is basically frat rock. Typical three and four chord hammer-on laden shuffles with lyrics that praise being "bad" ("I'm Bad Like Jesse James"), alcohol consumption ("Whiskey, Drinkin' and Sin"), and womanizing ("Shake That Thing"). And in addition to the seven "original" tunes, Hell's Felons also do two Thin Lzzy covers, "Hollywood" and "The Rocker", which I must confess, aren't all that bad.

It's rather obvious that very little thought went into these songs and the chances of these guys ever hitting the "big time" are practically nil (I think George Thorogood already has this market sewn up). But then again, if the members of Hell's Felons actually enjoy what they're doing, then who am I to bitch about it?
