Hellsongs
Lounge -EP-
February 2007
Released: 2006, Lovely Records/Sound Pollution Rating: 2.5/5 Reviewer: Anders Sandvall This trio from Sweden plays well-known metal songs in lounge style. The band wants to reach out to an audience that doesn’t listen to metal and hardrock music, so they limit the original songs to covers performed by guitar, piano, and vocals. A few of the classic songs they perform are “Seek and Destroy” by Metallica, “Breaking the Law” by Judas Priest, and “Run to the Hills” by Iron Maiden. And as you can imagine, the covers sound really different from the originals. But are the Hellsongs covers great? Well, no. Sure, it’s fun at first to listen to the songs in this style, but after a while you long for the originals. Something the band really needs to work on is learning to pronounce English. LOUNGE should be taken as a fun and different EP. The big question for Hellsongs is what are they going to do next? You can’t go much further within this genre. Killer tracks are “Seek and Destroy”, “Run to the Hills”, and “Orgasmatron”. http://www.soundpollution.se ![]()
