Hail of Bullets
Warsaw Rising
August 2009
Released: 2009, Metal Blade
Rating: 4.0/5
Reviewer: Alan Gilkeson

Limited to 2,000 copies, Hail of Bullets new mini-CD WARSAW RISING features two new songs, a cover, and three live tunes. Silenoz of Dimmu Borgir had this to say about Hail of Bullets, "When you think there's no hope left for brutal music, where every band sounds the same, HAIL OF BULLETS comes along and just levels everything with the ground." The future will tell if Silenoz is correct in his assessment, but judging from this EP, Hail of Bullets are certainly on their way to greatness.

The three live tunes are so immensely powerful, coming through the speakers as if you're really at the gig, played to perfection, and the sound is incredible. An awesome live production, "Nachthexen" seethes with anger and horror, dripping blood and ferocious. In fact the three live tracks are some of the best live performance tape to come around in a few years. Rarely do Death Metal performances come across clean and powerful on live albums, but these three tracks are quite amazing. Throw in a rousing cover of the Twisted Sister classic, "Destroyer" and you've got yourself a winner.

Hail of Bullet's are one of a handful of new Death Metal bands that have stripped Death Metal down a bit, and made it new and refreshing again. Riff heavy, and light on all the technical nonsense, which over the years has drowned the genre, Hail of Bullets are a groovy, bang your head type of band with a huge future... if they want it.
