Heaven and Hell, the reunited Ronnie James Dio fronted version of Black Sabbath, celebrated their return back in 2007 with their excellent LIVE AT RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL CD & DVD. It would be another two years until the band's final studio album "The Devil You Know" would be released. The folks at Eagle Rock Entertainment have at last issued this title on Blu-Ray and the results are phenomenal.



You can expect to hear all of your favorite Dio fronted Sabbath hits like "Mob Rules" "Children of the Sea" "Neon Nights" and of course "Heaven and Hell" performed in front of a rabid sold out audience as the band strut their stuff on a castle like cathedral stage setup. The picture quality is superb as is usually the case with Blu-Ray DVD's, but the sound quality is what really makes this release shine. The Radio City Music Hall is world renowned for it's sound acoustics, couple that with the wondrous power of Dio's godly vocals reverberating through the operatic like concert hall and you really can't ask for too much more.



The bonus features are worth the price of admission alone as we get candid pro-shot interview footage of all four band members as well as the road crew that works behind the scenes that made each show happen. Everyone from the guitar tech to the stage designer take part in the bonus content and the production manager at the famed Radio City Music Hall also gives the viewer an inside look at how the venue's unique hydraulic stage works. An interesting revelation to be found on the bonus content would be the band stating that they hardly ever did soundchecks prior to performing, another interesting fact would be that Vinny Appice uses a drum set on this tour that was formerly owned by the late, great Cozy Powell; given to him by Tony Iommi himself.



I would recommend this release to heavy metal fans one and all. This DVD is absolute magic, capturing the four metal legends doing what they love to do most at the peak of their career. The aforementioned bonus content is all top notch and an engaging view of the band behind the scenes. The only other thing worth reiterating would simply be - Dio, Iommi, Butler, Appice... on the same stage, performing the hits in crystal clear picture quality and audio to die for.
