Hatesphere
Ballet Of The Brute
August 2004
Released: 2004, Century Media Records
Rating: 1.5/5
Reviewer: Aryn

Hatesphere are a group of Danes who started as your typical At The Gates rip-off band during the Gothenburg craze and haven’t gotten much better. On the latest album BALLET OF THE BRUTE what’s represented is mediocre down-tuned thrash that has nothing remarkable to comment on. The bands sound has changed though seemingly if nothing else then to go along with the trends/times, whereas their self titled debut album has all the trademarks of the “Gothenburg Sound”, BALLET OF THE BRUTE has all the trademarks of the MTV2 Headbangers Ball version of thrash, down-tuned guitars riffing pointlessly with a singer screaming about pointlessly angry before the inevitable pointless most-breakdown. That’s the keyword on this entire album, pointless. Hatesphere may appeal to fans of The Haunted, Arch Enemy or The Forsaken, but it’s not for me.
