Giroux, Annick
Hellbent For Cooking (Book Review)
March 2011
Released: 2009, Bazillion Points
Rating: 3.5/5
Reviewer: Celtic Bob

A Heavy Metal cookbook. What an interesting thought. Even more interesting is the fact that the recipes in the book are from Metal musicians themselves. To make sure the artists never did a copy/paste from Google, Annick went out herself and searched out the recipes to ensure the reader was getting one unique book.

After owning this book for awhile now I’ve had time to make some of the recipes. While some ingredients were difficult to come by and others were damn impossible the ones that contained common ones turned out amazingly. Some of the recipes have now become new favorites in the Celtic Bob household. One of the ones that has been made many times in my kitchen is U.D.O’s ‘Roast Beef’. It is very flavorful and a unique twist on the classic beef roast without being really out there. Another one worthy of mention is the “Welfare Nacho’s” which is a take on Sneaky Dee’s ‘Ultimate’s’ from Toronto, Ont which is one of my personal favorite places to go to when in Toronto. The “Ali Baa Baa” is killer and the list goes on and on and on…

Colorful glossy pages filled with photo’s of every dish make for one awesome book. This is how all cookbooks should be so you know what the final dish is supposed to look like. Kudos to Annick.
