Ghoul Patrol, this relatively new star in the sky of Finnish extreme metal, started out as a 2-man project in 2005. The whole line-up of Ghoul Patrol got completed just in 2008 - and the band´s first studio work, carrying the title DEATH FUCKIN´ ROLL!, pretty much describes the outcome of the 4 songs they recorded for this hard rockin´ death metal opus.
Even if there´s heaploads of this type of stuff around nowadays, to Ghoul Patrol´s credit, it can be admitted that they differ from the pack by having 4 well executed and beautifully grinding and rolling songs recorded for their E.P., without no fillers. They sort of remind me of a less grindy version of their country mates Rotten Sound, with more melodies and mid-paced death metal elements jumbled up for their stuff. Ghoul Patrol offer a worthy listen on their debut E.P., sounding mean, ugly and very determined and ready to mangle all of your own house´s lovely furniture to dust.
Seriously, Ghoul Patrol impressed pretty much the hell out of me by their nearly virgin-tight performance on their more-than-promising DEATH FUCKIN´ ROLL! debut release. Especially "Recently Deceased Day 1" gets my vote for winning the title as the catchiest and most fingertip-itching song out of these 4 songs on D.F.R.. A very good start from these young and talented Finnish death grinders, absolutely. Give them a chance as they deserve it.
