Face of Ruin
Within the Infinite [EP]
January 2012
Released: 2011, Independent Rating: 4.0/5 Reviewer: Metal-Rules.com UK Team Face of Ruin are a Progressive Death Metal band from Milwaukee who have recently released their three track EP ‘Within the Infinite’. After a run of early recordings with founding guitarist Shane Ebert and drummer Cris Bissell, Face of Ruin was joined by bassist Noah Mezsick and soon after created their 2008 self-titled EP and with the inclusion of guitarist Jon Liedtke they found themselves in jeopardy with the loss of their vocalist, but after months of auditions the band recruited vocalist Matt Bishop [Human Artifacts, Lividity] who managed to bring an increased power to the band and made the music all-the-heavier! It also features a guitar solo performance on "In the Depths of Blackness" by Patrick Pinavalle [The Absence] and was mastered by Jonas Kjellgren [Scar Symmetry]. Matt Bishop shows great ferocity and aggression in his vocals with Noah Mezsick doing great backing, this EP just sounds amazing, especially with the combination of fast guitar sounds and drumming and combining the progressive and death metal style together in this EP. With only three songs released and with their ongoing partnership with Extreme Management Group this is a great teaser and I look forward to hearing their full-length release. A must heard EP for all you metallers out there who love your death metal! Review by Jo Blackened ![]()
