Face Down
The Will To Power
February 2006
Released: 2005, Black Lodge/Sound Pollution
Rating: 5.0/5
Reviewer: Anders Sandvall

Face Down are a band that has had a turbulent history. If you'd like to read up on the band's history, visit However, this being a review of the bands latest album, THE WILL TO POWER, I'll get right to the music...

The new album WILL TO POWER was recorded last summer in Fear and Loathing Studio in Stockholm Sweden. I have heard some of their previous albums but my interest in this band has risen tremendously since I heard that Marco Aro had joined the band again. He is one of my absolute favorite singers and I think what he did in The Haunted was outstanding. THE WILL TO POWER continues the path where The Haunted’s ONE KILL WONDER left off. The music is ultra fast brutal thrash. Marco sounds just as great as he did in The Haunted and he sings with an incredible strength and aggression. The music, especially the guitar playing, is extremely technical and Slayer inspired with heavy riffs.

This brilliant comeback album includes 10 songs combined in a perfect mix and this is sheer brutal in its purest form. The album clocks in at 40 minutes which feels just about perfect for a thrash album. Jocke Skog (Clawfinger) has produced the disc and he has managed to create a perfect platform for the guys to release their fury.

Well, there’s not nothing more to say except that this is one of the best thrash albums of 2005 and maybe it’s time now for Stockholm to show that they also are capable of producing metal music of a high caliber just like the dominating Gothenburg has done for a couple of years now. The only thing I wish for now is for the band to re-release their previous albums.
