Released: 2000, Palm Pictures
Well, Mongoose Mcqueen and the greatest heavy metal band in the world, FOZZY, have returned from Japan to show metal bands such as Maiden and Priest how it's done. Hell, sure Priest even covered Fozzy's "Riding on The Wind" and the Crue even gained some exposure thanx to Fozzy's "Live Wire." Confused ??? Well, let me explain...
If you're a wrestling fan at all, Fozzy is no stranger to you (eh Rick??). Mongoose Mcqueen is the alter-ego of WWF "superstar" Chris Jerico and his cover band Fozzy is made up of members of Stuck Mojo and Slik Speed. They've just released their debut CD and I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed the hell out of it. It contains 10 tracks in all: 8 covers and 2 originals. One thing cool about the disc is the choice of covers. Instead of the typical metal songs everybody is familiar with, Fozzy blow the dust off some gems such as Dio's "Stand Up and Shout", Iron Maiden's "The Prisoner" and Ozzy’s "Over the Mountain." The musicianship is great and Jerico's surprised me with his vocal ability, as his voice holds up well on the tracks. The two originals are pretty much typical metal tunes that could've been written with the 80's in mind. A great thing about this CD is the fact that a lot of younger wrestling fans who purchase this CD can be exposed to some classic old school metal, so Fozzy get thumbs up for that as well. Overall, a cool CD and a great trip into the past. No doubt, Mongoose McQueen shall return as the greatest front man of all time.
