Temple of Whores
December 2006
Released: 2006, Iron Fist Productions
Rating: 4.0/5
Reviewer: Luxi Lahtinen

Swedes just never stop amazing us, do they? I mean, at least as far as their own country´s definitely vast metal market is concerned.

Flesh, a solo creation of the mastermind Pete “Flesh” (also in such bands as Thrown and Deceiver), who took his artist name from a Death –song called “Flesh and the Power It Holds”, has put out his second album together with a session drummer named Flingan. As a nearly mandatory note, it should be told that Flesh´s debut album was released in 2005, titled DÖDÅNGEST, and if it´s anything as good as the band´s second release, I need to find it from somewhere under my untouchable judgement.

Not that surprisingly, ´old school Death Metal´ is what Flesh loves to churn out from every hole in a rock. Pete proves to be a real genius as a song writer, and rarely – and very rarely only you are able to come across such a professionally sounding and fabulously devastating 2-man project band that actually manages to convince you by the first strike already. Feel free to consider this Swedish 2-man death commando one of those bands that are just able to do just that. Pete shoves ripping and all-mangling riffs around the songs, his vocals reek more this ´death-breath power´ than you´re able to smell at your favorite pathologist´s working corner whereas Flingen adds his own deadly input into the songs by his effective drum artillery firing. Musically Flesh´s heavy Death Metal falls somewhere between such classic Death Metal acts bands as Death and Sadistic Intent – added with sort of a familiar Swedish –flavor of ´90s Death Metal. So, in that sense we talk about a very enjoyable package here all in all - and I cannot see any reason why old school Death Metal fanatics wouldn´t find this 9-track offering very appealing for themselves. Flesh simply kicks so many ribs broken in a rotting corpse.

Just like the band´s own website defines Flesh, this is ´old school Death Metal supreme´ indeed, in the true sense of the word.
