Hard Rockin’ Glam Metal from Chile. I first heard of Fahrenheit a little over a year ago when they appeared on the Metal-Rules.com Vol.1 CD. I was quite impressed with their song on the CD and hoped they’d release an album in these parts sometime soon.
To be quite honest I almost forgot about them until I received a copy of the disc from the fine people at Perris Records. When I saw the name I immediately wondered if it was the same band. After looking at the press sheet I realized it was. I couldn’t wait to see what this CD had to offer.
From the get go it was like a time warp. It was almost like being back in the mid to late 80’s with a brand new band and album to listen to. The whole disc is heavily influenced by allot of the great 80’s metal bands like Skid Row and BonJovi. They have the edge that the Skids had but maintain the melody of BJ. The couple of ballads on the album are quite good but it’s the upbeat rockers that show where the band really shines. The songs “Prom Night” and “Hot Leather” are total 80’s Glam/Cheese but in a good way with fast guitar and excellent vocals. The first song “Prom Night” puts me in mind of Nick Walsh from the Canadian band Slik Toxik. The vocals are quite similar here. “Hot Leather” is my personal favorite uptempo track on the cd. It got all the elements of a great song; excellent vocals, solid drums and bass and stellar guitar work. It is just a hard hitting song. The disc closes out with an amazingly strong acoustic ballad called “Two Souls One Heart” . This shows off how good a singer Chaz is and that he can be quite mellow as well as screaming his lungs out. This track ranks right up there with classic ballads of all time.
If you want a new cd of 80’s style metal then this is the album for you.
