Edenkaiser
Doomsday Juggernaut
October 2014
Released: 2014, ColdRaw Records Rating: 3.5/5 Reviewer: Metal-Rules.com Staff Hailing from Spain, Edenkaiser released the debut EP “Doomsday Juggernaut” at the beginning of the year, five years after their inception and their demo “Into the Eternal War”. With the clear intention to keep up with the black metal values, Edenkaiser’s Satanism and conspiracy is very well shown in the track “Enter Mephisto” – firstly because of the commanding chorus in which they shout the song’s title and secondly because of the eerie feeling the ancient black metal bands issued forth twenty years ago due to the raw production where we can easily hear some background noise. In “Inner Kingdom” the melodic vein comes to surface with an initial guitar riff and with some solitary notes with thunder and rain behind it. The vocals are also a thing to pay attention due to their infernal suffering in which we can hear several voices screaming the same words in different manners. The dirty sounding has also its negative sides and it’s quite evident in “A Jewel In My Skull”, because some guitar proprieties aren’t fully listenable. Somehow linked to thrash soundscapes by our fellow colleagues in other media entities, I guess the only time I can really feel it is in the last song “Kill For The Crown” – here they also recall the old values with some punk nuances near the end of the track leaving the sentiment that the best in “Doomsday Juggernaut” was truly in the first half of the EP. Nevertheless, let’s applaud Edenkaiser! Review by Diogo Ferreira ![]()
