Extol
Blueprint
May 2005
Released: 2005, Century Media Rating: 1.5/5 Reviewer: Anders Sandvall Extol are a 5-man Norwegian band based in the capitol Oslo. Many members have come and gone since the start in 94. Their debut was released in 98 called BURIAL and now it’s time for Extol to release their 4th studio album. Extol play a very strange mix of progressive metal with hardcore influences lead by a furious lead singer that screams his way through the entire album. The music partly turns into progressive music that sounds incredibly boring to say the least. Even if the guys are skilled as musicians, the album is really boring and that’s a mild judgement about BLUEPRINT. BLUEPRINT was recorded in Toproom Studios in Oslo by Börge Finstad (Mayhem, Borknagar) and when the album was recorded the band took off to Aarhus Denmark to get it mixed and mastered by Tue Madsen in Antfarm Studios. The production feels pretty standard and has nothing that makes it special. All of the 11 tracks feel uninspired and boring. The quality is poor, I have listened to it over and over but the album only gets me depressed and is nothing I should buy for my own money. ![]()
