Based on how much I loved their Masterpiece MARDRAUM, I decided to go hunting for some more Enslaved and ran into a wall at the store because they were sold out so I had to wait until now to do another review of their stuff.
Here’s another bizarre mix of death/black and melodic metal, needless to say I’m a sucker for this kind of album. I think that anyone that’s heard Enslaved before is pretty familiar with their style and themes, they are a Viking band so there’ll be a lot of blood an gore in the lyrics and you can almost feel it in the music. The track that really stands out in this album and makes it a very valuable piece in a metalhead’s collection, is "Blodhemn (Vengeance in Blood)". The rest of the album is very good both musically and lyrically, but this one just stands out and makes you notice.
In all, I highly recommend this band and as far as I’m concerned 2 out of 3 albums I’ve bought by them are brilliant (the third being ELD which I haven’t listened to yet, but I’ll try to get it reviewed also!) and I strongly advise you get their stuff.
