Engorged makes a cross over between classic gore-grindcore/old school 80’s thrash/speed-metal with a fresh sound. The band comes from the USA, from the Pacific Northwest to be exact. ENGORGED is their debut-album. This band is a new acquaintance for me but nevertheless something very refreshing.
The Engorged sound reminds me of for example S.O.D who play 80’s thrash/speed-metal and so did Anthrax. There are influences of gore/grindcore here and there. The production and the sound picture are a genuine job and Ryan/Noah make potent guitar players both solo and lead. Shad on drums also has a potent sound. Dave changes between the two styles in an elegant way and he has a broad register. The rest of the band back him up on backup-vocals.
This is a marvellous crossover and they make it consequently through fourteen tracks. Engorged has taken the best from two music styles and have made a very delicate mixture for the new millennium.
This is fresh and a new creation and really good. In my opinion this band has a bright future.
