End Begins
One Step Forward, A Lifetime Back
March 2011
Released: 2011, Full House Records Rating: 3.0/5 Reviewer: Luxi Lahtinen Full House Records is the leading record company for many of today´s most aggressive and metallic sounding hardcore acts in Finland, and the label has been growing their high profile constantly by signing young and talented HC-bands that ooze angst and deep hatred against many different issues in today´s society. One of these freshest new signings in the label´s roster is a band called End Begins that has adopted hardcore´s attitude and spirit more than well, so to speak. ONE STEP FORWARD, A LIFETIME BACK is the title of End Begins´ debut album, featuring 10 tracks – and it´s a hard fist punch (or perhaps even two) against your face as far as the songs´ fully exploded energy gets revealed. End Begins – like some many other metallic hardcore bands on FHR, counts on the power of crunchy and shredding guitar riffs that are really aimed to nail your ears to the wall, hate-filled and testosterone-oozing vocal outbursts that make weaker hearts shit in their pants, beautifully yet intelligently flowing song structures (´keep it simple – then it sounds cool´ are obviously the main keywords here) that make things happen for End Begins. At the end of the day however, one might call End Begins a thrashcore band rather than a pure, 100% waterproof hardcore band. The guitarists churn out many tasty and heavy riffs that contain significantly more heaviness in them than Kirk Hammett´s maximum weights in weightlifting – and overall these 5 fellows really know how to kick your nuts the way one feels the pain in his groin after their sonic beating is over. If brutal hardcore, or thrashcore – whatever you prefer calling this type of stuff, is your thing, then look no further. Now have fun with End Begins… ![]()
