Elektrik Mistress
May 2001
Released: 2001, Echo Relations Records
Rating: 3.0/5
Reviewer: Pete

After fronting both Peacemaker and Kuthe, Kurt Kuthe is back with his latest project Elektrik Mistress:11 tracks of mushroom-laden, pot resined tracks of space rock. I wouldn't necessarily call Elektrik Mistress stoner rock, as the tracks don't plod along like your typical stoner rock. There's actually traces of modern rock influences in the music, as Rush spring to mind every now and again. Could it be because this CD is produced by Terry Brown, who has produced many a Rush album in his time??

Could be, but Elektrik Mistress, have a little more to offer than most stoner outfits. My two faves on the album, "Shining Star" and "Blakk Room" are prime examples of what set these guys apart from the others: melody and actual guitar solos. The overall production on this disc is fantastic and the packaging is pretty sharp as well. You can find more info on these guys at:
