Disfear
Live the Storm
April 2008
Released: 2008, Relapse Records/Border Music
Rating: 4.0/5
Reviewer: Anders Sandvall

Sweden’s Disfear is back to follow up MISANTHROPHIC GENERATION with LIVE THE STORM. The living legend Tomas Lindberg is behind the mic and new guitarist Ulf Cederlund from Entombed is added to the lineup. It was a smart move to add another guitarist in the band, especially as skilled a guitarist as Cederlund. The album is dedicated to the late producer and musician Mieszko Talarczyk from the Swedish act Nasum who was tragically killed in the Tsunami of 2006.

Disfear is chock-full of aggressive and brutal hardcore topped of with a huge amount of punk and metal influences. This is an amazing album and hearing Lindberg behind the mic again gives me an eargasm. Petterson and Cederlund compete to grind out the meanest and most brutal guitar riffs ever shown to the world and the rhythm section is the heaviest I’ve heard for a while.

10 tracks are zip by at a high-speed tempo and the album clocks in at only 35 minutes. The material is stunning, which isn’t surprising with Lindberg and Cederlund in the same band. It’s impossible to pick out favorite tracks when every song is consistently good. This is really an album you can’t live without. Listen to LIVE THE STORM is like being run over by a bulldozer and I love it.

I can’t find anything to complain about when it comes to LIVE THE STORM; it’s aggressive, brutal, in-your-face and jammed full of edgy guitar riffs and magical vocals. It’s a massive wall of sound that assaults you when you push play and the production is just as amazing as the rest of the stuff. This is a true masterpiece delivered by the grand masters of hardcore/punk/metal in Sweden. I have nothing bad at all to say about the album; instead I only urge you to BUY BUY BUY!
