Hailing from Australia, Demolition is a new project which will be of interest to many of you, especially if you consider Thrash Metal your music of choice. If that’s the case then keep on reading.
Essentially a one man project – lead by guitarist/vocalist Rick Linguroski who’s role on STRIKE FORCE extends beyond writing only the compositions to being both the engineer and producer, as well as covering the vocals, guitars and other instruments. Sounds a little familiar? Well the comparisons to Annihilator don’t end there because Jeff Waters’ influence is quite apparent on Rick and while it may be blatant at times, it is honest and genuine which is not what can be said about some artists.
At 20:02 long STRIKE FORCE may be succinct but it’s always been about quality, not quantity that will be remembered and that is true here. The disc gets off to a punishing start with “Strike You Down” and the initial highlights are the tight/concise riffing and devastating arrangements. Up next is my personal favourite “The Torture” which in a word is incredible. This track must be heard to be appreciated and will hopefully be the path Rick takes Demolition down as it is the one track that does free itself from the Annihilator comparisons. The instrumental “Infernal Distortion Assault” follows as do the tracks “Death Grinder” and the title track which maintain the high standards set earlier.
It’s obviously early days for Demolition but on the strength of this EP alone, it’s easy to get excited by STRIKE FORCE as it’s extremely impressive. Some will certainly be put off by how close some of the tracks mirror Annihilator in style (see “Death Grinder”) but I would rather that another third or fourth rate Slayer or Metallica clone. Thankfully a 'live line-up' to support the EP is now being assembled and this is a great development as this will allow Demolition the opportunity to grow into a real band.
Thrash needs some fresh new faces to take charge in order for it to grow and become relevant to a new generation. Demolition may just be one of those bands so visit the web site and make yourself familiar with what’s on offer.
