Def Leppard
Songs From The Sparkle Lounge
July 2008
Released: 2008, Universal Music
Rating: 3.5/5
Reviewer: Celtic Bob

One of the greatest Hard Rock bands that release decent quality material every time give us SONGS FROM THE SPARKLE LOUNGE. Inspired by their backstage and practice area from the last tour which they called The Sparkle Lounge comes this offering of original tunes.

The disc opens up with the with the rocker “Go” which makes the listener feel like Def Lep of old are back and ready to rock. Next up is the first single “Nine Lives” that features country superstar Tim McGraw on guest vocals. This is far from country though and is one of the best songs on the entire disc. The song “Hallucinate” is raw and mixed so it sounds like ON THROUGH THE NIGHT era Lep. The short guitar solo and Joe’s voice sound so early 80’s…in a good way.

Not one of their better offerings but worth checking out and a few spins. It may take some time for it to grow on you as it didn’t reach out and grab me upon first listen like most of their albums have in the past.
