Delphian
Oracle
July 2006
Released: 2005, Lion Music
Rating: 2.0/5
Reviewer: MetalChick

Holland has produced yet another female-fronted metal band. Delphian emerges with debut album ORACLE – 10 songs of sub par attempts at prog. The production of the instruments is very weak; some decent riffs are muddied up and I cannot hear the existence of a bassist. All of the producer’s attention was on the singer, who is nothing special as she sounds like another Floor Jansen.

I’m already bored by the time I reach track four. Each song is one and the same – too mellow, too much vocals, and the same muffled riffs in choppy song structures. This is a debut album, so the amateurism is not much of a surprise. I think if they want to stand out in the vein of female-fronted bands, they need to step it up a couple notches so they’re not emulating their Dutch counterparts so much.
