Decaying
One To Conquer
December 2014
Released: 2014, Hellthrasher Productions Rating: 2.5/5 Reviewer: Metal-Rules.com UK Team Cry Havoc and let slip the dogs of war! ONE TO CONQUER, the new album by war-obsessed Finns Decaying has descended upon us. In the grand tradition of Finnish death metal, it is atonal, raw and heavier than an elephant's bollocks! It's also rather uninspiring. The album opens promisingly enough with "Frequent Wind", but then spirals into a turgid mess with "The Fall Of Saigon". This pattern continues throughout the whole album; a good track followed by a not so good one. It is adequate background music, but not what you really want from a death metal band. The album ends on a low note with the interminable "Ho Chi Minh Trail", which seems to last as long as the Vietnam war did. When the album is good it is very good ("Frequent Wind", "Zero Hour", "Iron Curtain"), it just isn't good enough often enough. Review by Owen Thompson ![]()
