Demise
Torture Garden
January 2009
Released: 2008, Metal Mind Productions Rating: 3.5/5 Reviewer: Simon Lukic Demise are a Polish death metal band that have put together an interesting mix of influences on TORTURE GARDEN. Taking notes from some of the elite of the genre such as Morbid Angel and Hate Eternal, Demise add a modern touch with moments of Shadows Fall’s et al sound coming through. Whether or not this is a true influence, I not sure, but it does come through. With that said, Demise is not a metalcore/deathcore/whatevercore band - they are clearly a death metal act and I just wanted to get that out of the way… The title track gets the album off to a great start with concise arrangements and interesting melodies leading the way. “Revelation”, “Ravaged”, “Grieve No Longer” and “Deadly Embrace” maintain the standards with enough heavy riffing and brutality to satisfy the most harden death metal fan. Demise has shown a lot on promise on TORTURE GARDEN. There’s enough aggression to satisfy the old school fan as well some diversity and ideas to attract new ears. I’m interested in seeing how they develop further and will be on the lookout for their next release. ![]()
