The title lets you know these guys are from the Philippines, though they currently reside in Costa Rica, and that there apparently is an 'Antichrist' from said country. It also seems that this trio has been around for twenty years, however this is just their second album, both coming over the last three.
The overwhelming conclusion after listening to FILIPINO ANTICHRIST can only be one thing... it's pretty fucking awful. One can make out what they're trying to do, mold disparate nonsensical sounds together in an effort to create a type of evil dissonance without melody... yet melodic.
However, the mark is squarely missed. Yes, it sounds brutal. Yes, it sounds barbaric, Yes, it sounds primitive and bestial.... and yes, it sounds horrible, contrived, unimaginative, and patronizing. The result is brutality, without regard to art.
Deiphago fancy themselves part of the Blasphemy and Archgoat family... and who knows if that ability lies within them. Their first record was strongly endorsed by the Ross Bay Cult label, garnering them some credibility, however this sonic mess surely misses the mark.
