Cancer Bats
Hail Destroyer
November 2009
Released: 2008, Distort
Rating: 4.0/5
Reviewer: Celtic Bob

Heavy, Intense and Energetic is the only way to describe this 2008 release from the Cancer Bats. Their mixture of Metal, Punk, Hardcore and Rock n Roll create a sound that captivates and draws you in upon first listen. Having been on the scene for awhile now, it is with HAIL DESTROYER that they are starting to become a more recognized name across the country.

With songs like “Hail Destroyer”, “Death’s March” and “Let It Pour” there is a solid reason why the Cancer Bats are rapidly gaining momentum. You will be hard pressed to find another band like this that creates such a mesmerizing sound. There is something that draws you to it. Is it the intense vocals? Maybe it’s the heavy rhythm or the distorted guitars? Whatever it is, it works and works well. Listening to this album is like being in an overcrowded club with the band playing at ear bleed volume. It’s that good.

A fantastic album from last year that I am just discovering and recommend that you do so as well. You will not be disappointed at all.
