Communic have once again entered Jacob Hansen’s studio (Hansen Studio) in order to record their new album, WAVES OF VISUAL DECAY. Their highly praised debut album from 2004, CONSPIRACY IN MIND, won a lot of awards and got great reviews worldwide.



Just like before, Communic still delivers the same dark, progressive, technical thrash metal, but this time they include calmer passages and a few songs that almost border on becoming ballads. Communic have musical similarities with Nevermore, to be exact, but Communic don’t have as strong a singer as Nevermore, nor do they have the same power, skills, abilities as their American companions to write mindbreaking songs, but it’s actually still quite good.



Communic invites us to take part in 7 songs and almost 60 minutes of music on WAVES OF VISUAL DECAY, and it feels like lead singer Oddleif Stensland has gone through major development vocal-wise. He manages to add more power to the music and he can also play the guitar at the same time - what a guy. The rhythm section is just as great as before, and the production creates a strong and solid sound that benefits Communics music. It’s just too bad that a few of the songs are too anonymous and can’t really carry the album further.



If you liked the previous album, I’m sure you’re definitely going to enjoy this trip as well; in fact, this album is better than the last one. Killer tracks are the mighty “Under a Luminous Sky”, “Watching It All Disappear”, and “Waves of Visual Decay”.
