Christ Beheaded
Open The Gates Of Hell
February 2009
Released: 2008, Abyss Records
Rating: 2.5/5
Reviewer: Bruce Sanchez

Christ Beheaded is the new black metal project featuring members of The Gates of Slumber and Demiricous. Their 4 track EP, “OPEN THE GATES OF HELL” was released on Abyss Records.

In true black metal fashion, the album kicks off with a quote about the absence of God followed by a string of ringing chords that lead way into the actual beginning of the first track. Sadly, the sleeve contains no lyrics, so there’s no way of telling what Count Magnus is singing about. My guess is it’s something about hating Christians. I cannot however, downplay the musicianship and production quality here. The treble-less guitar tones that usually take me out of this genre are really not that bad, but maybe that’s because the bass is somewhat audible.

Their press release claims that if you’re a fan of Dissection, Watain, and Craft, then Christ Beheaded might be your cup of tea. But if you’re a fan of The Gates of Slumber or Demiricous, then you’re assed out. Although, there's nothing wrong with that.
