Cherry St.
Monroe +3
March 2006
Released: 2004, Perris Records
Rating: 4.0/5
Reviewer: Celtic Bob

My first introduction to Cherry St. was their CD BUSTER CHERRY which features Canada’s own Brian Vollmer of Helix on lead vocal. Upon first listen I enjoyed them thoroughly. Cherry St. is a band that features Perris Records own Tom Mathers.

This disc is a re-release of an older CD featuring Marq Torien (Bulletboys) on vocals. The first track “Dogtown” is also found on their BUSTER CHERRY release. It is an excellent rock track and hearing it delivered with a different singer is interesting to say the least. While Marq does a good job on it, the version found on BUSTER CHERRY with Brian Vollmer (Helix) on vocals is the stronger and more enjoyable one. Brian’s vocal’s are more suited to the song.

Steady beats, crunchy guitar and melodic bass lines all work together to serve up some kick ass RnR. With Torien on vocals it’s extremely hard not to think of Bulletboys. His style of singing is such an integral part to the band and distinctive so it’s hard not to compare the 2 bands. Even with a bit of BB brought into it this is still clearly an Cherry St. disc.
