Skjend Hans Lik
Released: 2004, Season of Mist
This seems a glorified ‘single’ from the last CD but it has enough extras to make it cool for fans and collectors alike. Skjend Hans Lik appears as an alternate version from the version on ‘Defending’. Next up a disposable instrumental, ambient type deal called ‘Humiliation Chant’, sorta of a companion piece to ‘Damnation Chant’. This was a bonus on the vinyl version of ‘Defending’ as well. Then a demo, then a live cut and a video. Fair enough, good stuff for fans.
What is really cool is they have included the entire ‘Bloodlust and Perversion’ demo. Very cool getting to hear this, nice and raw taking us back to the olden days when production wasn’t a concern for these bands. The tracks on the demo all appeared on the 1997 CD by the same name and unfortunately I don’t own it so I can’t compare the demo versions from 1992 to the studio versions in 1997. Sorry!
The cover art of SHL is pretty poor. It’s just the bands logo (again) and it’s almost identical to ‘Strange Old Brew’ AND ‘Defending’!! Hire a graphic artist! If you are not a fan of primal Black Metal, don’t bother with this disc. Most die-hards who bought the compilation from 2002 (We Are Going To Hell For This) will want to add these few goodies to their catalogue. If you are interested to learn more about the actual music of CF, read Lord of The Wasteland’s excellent review of the bands latest CD from 2002.
