Beatallica
Sgt. Hetfield`s Motorbreath Pub Band
June 2007
Released: 2007, Oglio Rating: 4.0/5 Reviewer: Celtic Bob What happens when you mix the greatest rock n roll band in the word with a band that used to be one of the greatest metal bands? The answer is Beatallica. Next you have to wonder is it going to be Beatles covers done Metallica style or Vice Versa. What you get is a 50/50 cross between the 2. Some Beatle lyrics and melody mixed with a Hetfield voice and some Metallica-ish lyrics as well. Being a huge Beatle fan the idea of having their songs done by another artist is a bit blasphemous. While it is a bit hard to accept as Beatles related it is interesting in the fact that hearing a Hetfield sound put to a Beatle tune is somewhat intriguing. It’s like a car wreck almost; you can’t help but be interested and drawn to it. Lyrically the disc is quite clever and well thought out as well as a bit satirical in places. Just the concept of combining the 2 is intriguing and draws interest. Jaymz’ vocals bring all of Hetfield’s little nuances out to the extreme and he really emphasizes the “Ya’s” and the like. An entertaining disc to listen to and I bet they could be quite enjoyable to watch live. A unique concept and product on all accounts. ![]()
