Burn To Ashes
Demo 2010
January 2011
Released: 2010, Demo Rating: 3.0/5 Reviewer: Thorsten Zwingelberg Once Trier was populated by Roman legionnaires, today it’s home to three young musicians who joined forces in 2009 to become what is today Burn To Ashes. And since actions speak louder than words, the trio decided to record their first demo. And I can’t help but think that it wasn’t too early, because Demo 2010 is prove that not everybody who is younger than 20 has to play Metalcore. While the guys claim Metalcore as one of their influences – along with bands like Metallica, Trivium or Iron Maiden – the songs don’t sound anything like Metalcore, which is a true blessing. Singer Tim brings a melancholic note into the songs, while guitar player Tommy provides for the deep growls. Songs like “Leave Me Behind” or “My Darkest Day” remind me of Darkseed’s SPELLCRAFT or Pyogenesis in their early days. Burn To Ashes combine some heavy riffing with good leads and heavy guitar melodies that can’t be found in any off-the-shelf Metalcore band. Mind you, the Demo is far from being perfect, it could do with a more brutal sound for instance, but the songwriting certainly shows some good potential and I am sure that the next recording will show some great improvement. Can’t wait to hear some more – and you should take the chance and check those guys out at there website (where you can also download two songs for free) or at their myspace site. Rock! ![]()
