Here comes a live DVD from L.A.’s own metal/hardcore rap act Body Count, led by the notorius Ice T. At this point, he’s the only original member left in the band, and is joined by Ernie C on guitar. The rest of the original members have fallen victim to drive-by shootings and cancer.
The DVD was recorded in a small, intimate club during the band’s American tour last year. The DVD features a total of 17 songs, including a guitar and drum solo, as well as Ice T’s very long monologues in between the songs. The DVD clocks in at 1 hour and 15 minutes, with songs like “Body Count’s In Tha House”, “KKK Bitch”, “There Goes the Neighborhood”, and of course “Cop Killer” on the tracklist. They also deliver a new song called “Murder 4 Hire”. Unfortunately, the show lacks passion and energy; and don’t get me started on the poor lighting - most of the members are standing in darkness! The film crew seem to be absolute amateurs. Not many cameras are used, and the entire gig is very shakily filmed.
The bonus material consists of one long - and I do mean long - interview with Ice T, done by a reporter that doesn’t know what to ask Ice T. It looked like Ice T was going to fall asleep. There’s also a shorter interview with Ernie C, and a photo gallery.
This is not a very good DVD, and is really only for the dedicated fans who weren’t around during the band’s prime. After all, they influenced some of today’s famous acts, like Korn, Limp Bizkit, Rage against the Machine, etc. with their very political lyrics and statements.
