Brass Kitten
Across America
September 2001
Released: 2001, Nightmare Records Rating: 3.0/5 Reviewer: Pete Not much info on these guys, basically they toured from '88 to '92 and had this album ready to go in '92 when a motorcycle accident put their bassist out of commission and the demise of Brass Kitten. Due to public demand(?) they've finally released ACROSS AMERICA and are gonna tour in support for it. Unfortunately, it's 10 years too late for Brass Kitten, as they're party-style metal has fallen by the wayside. But you know what??? Fuck it!!!! 80's all the way baby: black leather, mousse abuse, cheesy lyrics, big-ass choruses and even bigger hair. ."Can't Hold Back The Young" sports a great anthem-like chorus, while the radio-friendly "Too Far Gone" would even make Bret Michaels jealous. Think Tuff meets Poison at a party hosted by Pretty Boy Floyd and you'll get the picture. The best thing about Brass kitten is vocalist Steve Philbrook who has an excellent voice, bringing the likes of Sebastian Bach to mind. If you like party metal a la 80's, Brass Kitten should satisfy.
